Laurena is a licensed occupational therapist working in the Solano County area. She received her master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California in 2010. She has been practicing as an occupational therapist for nearly 10 years and has worked with children from the ages of 0-21. She has worked in a variety of settings including home based early intervention, public school, private school, and private practice with a focus on sensory integration and feeding. Laurena loves being an OT and is passionate about using meaningful activities to help children gain the necessary skills to do what they need and want to do as independently as possible. Laurena values partnering with parents and caregivers to promote collaboration and a trusting relationship.
Laurena uses a relationship based approach when working with children and families. She understands that a trusting relationship is an important basis for active engagement and development. Laurena strives to use a holistic approach with each individual child, taking into consideration the unique needs of each family, in order to meet the needs of the child and the family as a whole. Laurena works to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines in order to increase participation and functioning in daily activities.
